Hard summer: the basics

August 1, 2026 marks the start of Hard Summer which lasts two days and has a lineup of 50 artists. The festival has a wide range of genres from EDM to hip hop to R&B with some huge stars to headline. Kali Uchis and Charlotte De Witte are just two examples. These two artists are set to perform on Saturday, August 1 and Knock 2 and DJ Snake are some headliners to look out for on Sunday. About 80,000 to 100,000 tickets were sold so there will likely be a crowd of close to 100,000 at Hollywood Park, where the festival has been held the last three years.

Mau P and Vintage Culture are set to perform sets that include tech house and melodic house. There will also be techno and gabber from the sets of Brutalismus 3000 and MCR-T with the former performing on Saturday and the latter on Sunday. The festival is open to all music lovers that are over 18. Hard Summer has occured for over ten years in Los Angeles and one of the things that differentiates it from other festivals is the use of local talent. The audience of Hard Summer reflects the demographic of Los Angeles which is predominantly Latino and there are some people on the lineup that reflect this. Two djs based in Los Angeles are Shaking, who is Argentinian and Miluhska, who is Ecuadorian.

Artists to look out for

ETARI is just one of the many artists from Los Angeles that is on the lineup and she is an up and comer from the underground rave scene. She is a dj who's unique sound consists of combining techno, breaks, electro, and psychedelic house. In February 2026, she contributed to the success of the Skyline Festival which has a similar audience to Hard Summer.

Another small artist that people should pay attention to at Hard Summer is CQUESTT. She's an LA native that djs and takes inspiration from all over the world. As someone who is both Latina and Black she incorporates her Latin roots by playing reggaton and she is known for cultivating sets that blur genres. She is used to bringing people from different backgrounds together because she holds an event series called Baile World that helps build community.

Final thoughts

Canary yellow is an LA-based dj that will have a set on Sunday, August 2, 2026 and his style focuses on upbeat melodies and driving grooves. He plays with a lot of different genres during his sets such as progressive house, jungle, and even hip hop. This perfectly reflects the nature of the festival which doesn't try to define itself to one genre of music, but rather it empowers people by having a diverse lineup that represents the diversity of Los Angeles.
